ZEAL & ARDOR
Description
Zeal & Ardor is more than just a group; it is a living, breathing entity. Like everything else, it feeds, changes, and evolves from one season to the next. Although its shape may alter, its spirit never changes. Established and led by Manuel Gagneux, he has continued to strengthen his nerfs, lengthen his crocs, and aiguize his griffes throughout the years, making him indispensable and unmistakable.
With her fourth studio album, GREIF, this bete demonstrates that she is more dynamic and dangerous than ever after amassing tens of millions of listens and receiving unanimous praise from critics. According to Manuel, “Zeal & Ardor is truly an entity in transition.” “This is obviously an agitated organism that I have the privilege of delivering.” He has done amazing work up to this point.
Zeal & Ardor’s breakthrough album, Devil Is Fine, in 2017 cemented their place in popular culture. The group has advanced with Stranger Fruit [2018] and Zeal & Ardor [2022] during their global tours. Beyond praise from NPR, Paste, Brooklyn Vegan, Alternative Press, and many others, Metal Hammer highlighted its “near-perfection” in a 4.5 stars on 5 review, while The Line of Best Fit stated that “Zeal & Ardor continue to affirm their polyvalence.” The group did the cover for KERRANG!, and the record is ranked highly in several countries.
However, Manuel chose to switch to a different approach with GREIF. Instead of creating alone, he welcomed his studio group members. As a result, musicians Marco Von Allmen [batterie], Lukas Kurmann [bass], Marc Obrist [vocacle], Denis Wagner [vocacle], and Tiziano Volante [guitar] have thrown their wings at its side.
“It seemed strange that I was the only one on the albums because the guys had dedicated seven years of their lives to this project while on tour,” he said. The son is more faithful to what we do on stage. Just on vinyle, you have the same fools. Add it in riant.
“We have truly evolved into a soudée unit,” Marc continues. We were practically foreigners before Zeal & Ardor, but we are now a small family. Each member adds their unique flavor to the mix, and we all try to make Manuel’s songs better in our own way. This new approach to our work in the studio is what I have found most interesting.
